Ypapanti Community
Ypapanti, which translates to the Presentation of Christ, Greek
Orthodox Church has been an active and integral part of the East Pittsburgh
neighborhood for over 85 years. The Church community was founded by a
handful of immigrant Greeks in 1917 who desired to maintain their proud
heritage in the Church of their motherland. Over the years the Church's
membership has grown to over 200 families from East Pittsburgh,
Turtle Creek, Forest Hills, and surrounding neighborhoods.
The Church's campus expanded in May of 1984
with the construction of a banquet center named Olympia
Hall. In August of 1984 the first Greek Food Festival was held in
the Hall to share the Greek culture of the church with its surrounding
community.
Everyone is welcome to attend the bi-lingual Divine Liturgy service
which starts at 9:30AM every Sunday, officiated by Fr. Michael Kallaur.
